Ernestine Louise Delcamp

Ernestine Delcamp attended Interlochen’s National High School Orchestra and Band Camp for several seasons to play French horn. Over the course of the eight week season in 1931, Ernestine wrote daily letters to family and friends describing her experiences at camp. Later, she collected these letters and saved them in a scrapbook with other mementos. The scrapbook was donated to the archives, and digitization of its contents was completed during the 85th Camp season in 2012. Her letters have also been transcribed for an easier reading experience.

Ernestine’s vivid descriptions of Camp life in 1931 are informative and charming, giving readers a focused snapshot back in time. We hope you enjoy viewing Interlochen Arts Camp through her eyes.

Dear All -- Love, Ernestine
